Grand Canyon Bright Angel Trail

After a great family style dinner and breakfast at Phantom Lodge, we head out early. From the canyon floor we dont get an idea of large the canyon really is. Thats because the surrounding elevation is about 300 meters high blocking most of the view beyond which is the plateau and after that the rim begins to rise

Sunrise time, the light reaches a little late to the canyon. By now all the canyon structures higher up would be completely lit

The rim top comes into view. Its a 7 mile hike to the top. Its going to be a long hard day of walking. For motivation we left our packets of Bisi Bele Bath (a south indian dish) at the room. Dreaming of eating Bisi Bele Bath.

There is more shrubbery on the Bright Angel Trail

Some water has frozen along the path.

I dont see any trail going up the rim top, means more winding around and more walking

The strenuous climb begins

We dont take a whole lot of pictures, we just keep climbing higher. In this picture you can see the trail to plateau point just left to the second structure on right that is casting a shadow. Its the thin bright line on the plateau. Beyond that is the river gorge.

Another restroom and emergency phone facility on the way

Most of the projections on the rim top are viewpoints. You should be seeing people there. But all we see are the trees.

The river gorge is located where the two landscapes of different colours meet. We started there in the morning. The trail to plateau point is clearly visible. Somewhere in between is Indian Lodge.

Rim top is getting nice and close.

Well not so close

Rim Top !!! Bright Angel Lodge in the distance.

hmmm.

We stop for a picture before we completed the trail.
Civilization is a couple of hundred feet away.
Restaurants, Transit service, Cars, Roads and Gift Shops.
And just as we stepped off the trail we found ourselves in the middle of it all, again.
